Unlock Your Own Fountain of Youth

Orthomolecular Nutrition & Wellness Center has been administering Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy for years, and is showing exciting results with sports injuries and anti-aging facial rejuvenation. This amazing non-surgical treatment can relieve pain, promote permanent healing and avert the need for surgery. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is also revolutionizing the field of anti-aging and the treatment of acute and chronic pain.

What is PRP?

PRP is a byproduct of blood (plasma) that is rich in platelets. The concentrated platelets found in PRP contain super-physiologic quantities of bioactive proteins (growth factors) that assist the body in tissue regeneration and healing. They also function to recruit more growth factors to the injury site. The more growth factors that are infused into the injury site, the more cells are stimulated to produce new host tissue. Based on this principle, PRP is utilized to stimulate the release of growth factors to accelerate connective tissue healing, and tendon and ligament regeneration and repair.

First used in cardiac surgery in 1987, physicians discovered that platelets had strong healing properties. They began experimenting with skin and bone grafts, further exploring the soft tissue and bone regeneration effects. Today, Orthomolecular Nutrition & Wellness Center is using PRP and achieving outstanding results on conditions involving:

Achilles Tendon

Hip

Shoulder (such as rotator cuff tears and inflammation)

Plantar Fascia

Elbow (inflammation, e.g. tennis elbow)

Ankle (sprains and partial tears)

Tendons

Ligaments (such as anterior and medial meniscus damage)

Knees (meniscus injuries)

Before playing in all four professional golf majors in 2009, Tiger Woods received PRP injections in his left knee that allowed him to recover from injury. PRP injections in his elbow may have been the reason that Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Takashi Saito was able to return to the mound for the 2008 Major League Baseball playoffs. Hines Ward of the Pittsburg Steelers had the PRP procedure performed before going on to win the Super Bowl with his team the same year.

There are an eye-popping number of professional athletes using this treatment to accelerate the healing process and get them back in the game. Previously only available to these elite athletes from both a cost and accessibility perspective, the procedure is now available to you at a reasonable price at Orthomolecular Nutrition & Wellness Center.

How Does PRP Therapy Work?

To prepare PRP, a small amount of blood is taken from the patient. It is placed in a centrifuge to separate the different blood elements from the platelet rich plasma. The entire process takes around 15 minutes and concentrates the platelets and growth factors. The PRP is then injected into the affected area, serving to stimulate the repair of soft tissue damage. As a result, new collagen begins to develop. As this collagen matures, it promotes the tightening and strengthening of the damaged area.

Regenerating Tissue Therapy

Research studies and clinical practice have shown PRP to be very effective. Both ultrasound and MRI images have shown definitive tissue repair after treatment, confirming the healing process. The need for surgery may be reduced or avoided by treating injured tissues before the damage progresses and the condition is irreversible.

The human body has a natural ability to heal itself. The body’s first response to soft tissue injury is to deliver platelet cells. Packed with growth and healing factors, platelets initiate the repair process and attract the critical assistance of stem cells. Using this natural mechanism, PRP intensifies the body’s efforts by delivering a higher concentration of platelets to the damaged area.

Patients treated with PRP have shown significant improvement with regard to pain reduction and physio-functionality. Since the patients’ own blood is used, there is no risk of a transmissible infection. The simple, minimally invasive procedure is performed in a sterile, office-based environment, and does not require general anesthesia or hospitalization.

Because PRP helps to resolve pain through healing, it provides lasting results. Initial improvement may be seen within a few weeks or sooner, gradually increasing as the healing progresses. A typical duration of therapy to achieve optimal results consists of three to five treatments, spread out a month apart.

PRP Therapy for Facial Rejuvenation

Aging of the skin leads to dermal deterioration and damage, characterized by sagging, thinning of the skin, puffiness, age spots, and wrinkling of the forehead, cheeks and neck. Sun exposure worsens the process by solar-aging and UV irradiation, promoting vertical and horizontal facial wrinkles and body texture deterioration with time. The exciting new trend in anti-aging medicine is based on the regeneration of the patient’s own cells (autologous platelet-rich plasma).

What is the Vampire Facial?

The Vampire Facial is an all-natural, designer procedure in which the body’s own Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is used to boost collagen and elastin production by delivering concentrated amounts of growth factors, potent platelets and active proteins. The patient’s PRP is applied topically to the skin followed by our Collagen Induction Therapy System, a process in which the skin is perforated with microscopic punctures. This allows for a transdermal delivery of the PRP. The growth factors in the PRP rejuvenate cells, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve the skin’s tone and texture, and heal tissue by initiating a stem cell response. These stem cells work to generate new tissue (smoothness), increase blood flow (glow), create new collagen (fill and rejuvenate), and repair damaged skin while reversing the signs of aging.

What are the Benefits of the Vampire Facial?

There is a quantifiable improvement of skin complexion with visible changes noticeable in three to four weeks, especially on the forehead, cheeks, neck and back of hands.

PRP is not a volumetric filler like Juvederm®, but a biological cell therapy, utilizing the patient’s own plasma-enriched cells, resulting in more desirable and longer lasting results.
